The Made in Gloucestershire initiative has gone from strength to strength. The objective is to provide confidence to consumers and the retailing and foodservice sectors that they are buying and selling or serving authentic local produce.  While its primary focus is on economic development, the partners are ambitious in time to use the scheme as a means to engage businesses in promoting healthier menus, and in reducing food waste and carbon emissions.

This fantastic initiative launched in July 2022, and recently reached its first big milestone – 100 members and affiliates. With initial funding from the County and District Councils’ Strategic Economic Development Fund, the project has now been adopted by the County Council. Membership is currently free, and offers a wide range of benefits, with more planned in the future in response to members’ feedback.  Details of the scheme can be found at www.madeingloucestershire.com and GFFP partners are encouraged to promote the scheme to relevant businesses, and both residents and visitors.
